Girlfriends Health Guide for Women of Color

The Girlfriends Health Guide for Women of Color focuses on promoting and informing women of color about health-related disparities affecting underserved and underrepresented ethnic women.

African-Americans, Hispanics, Asians and American Indians are at higher risk for lupus than Caucasians.

Program objectives:
  1. Provide women of color with information about health related disparities that focus on ethnic women who are under served and under represented.
  2. Encourage women of color to understand that they’re not alone and being there for one another is the everlasting bond of friendship that will never be broken.
  3. Educate women of color about the holistic circles of life: mind, body and soul.

The Guide is a quarterly, pocket-sized glossy magazine designed for working and on-the-go women who want to be empowered. It helps readers find tips on finances, "going green" and other stories to help "girlfriends" incorporate a balance of life, work and most importantly, health into their lives. It features columns by physicians who specialize in treating women and understand women's health issues.

The publication's network includes Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and Milwaukee.
