KidsHealth comes from Nemours, a nonprofit organization created by philanthropist Alfred I. duPont in 1936 and devoted to improving the health of children.

Nemours supports a number of renowned children's health facilities, including the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware.

The Nemours Center for Children's Health Media, a national leader in health education, creates the content for KidsHealth.org.

Program objectives:

1. Bring knowledge, perspective, advice and comfort to lupus patients and their families.
2. Create online, print and video media on a wide range of health and family issues, with sections for parents, kids and teens.
3. Communicate complex medical information in language that people can understand and use.
4. Ensure the information is as up-to-date as possible.

KidsHealth.org was developed in 1995 and is now one of the most-accessed websites for information on children’s health. All KidsHealth articles, animations, games, etc. go through a rigorous medical review by pediatricians and other medical experts. The KidsHealth website has no ads.

Lupus afflicts 1.5 million people in the USA, including about 10,000 children. Parents can feel confident that the information at KidsHealth is reliable, comprehensible and engaging.
