The FTC’s national education campaign - AvoID Theft: Deter, Detect, Defend - aims to empower consumers to protect themselves against identity theft and to minimize the damage it can cause.  Through the program, the FTC provides necessary tools to enable anyone – regardless of existing knowledge about the issue – to effectively educate others. For more information, please read a brief overview of the campaign.

Any organization or individual can join the fight against identity theft. Using the FTC’s resources, you can raise awareness and educate your community – whether it’s through a business, place of worship, social club, professional organization, or other.

The FTC has created a suite of materials for its partners. You may choose to order kits and brochures, download to distribute or post online, co-brand and print the materials with your organization’s logo, or even design your own materials using the FTC’s information.

The AvoID Theft Consumer Education Kit
Available in English and Spanish, this comprehensive kit includes all of the following items. For hard copies of the complete kit, go the FTC's online order site at www.ftc.gov/bulkorder. Look under ID Theft in the Publications categories.

Booklet provides step-by-step instructions on educating audiences. Includes a speech, presentation slides, template press release, as well as other tools to publicize an identity theft education session and aid community outreach.

Tri-Fold Brochure
Key ‘Deter, Detect, Defend’ advice condensed into an easy-to-reproduce brochure. Partners can order hard copies of the brochure, print the brochure ‘as is’, co-brand it with their logo and print, or use text-files to design their own for distribution to members, employees, or within the community.

Taking Charge: What To Do if Your Identity is Stolen
The FTC’s comprehensive guide for victims of identity theft - includes the ID Theft Affidavit. Partners can order hard copies, download and print the guide, or share the PDF version.

CD-ROM/DVD Set
The CD-ROM/DVD set includes a CD containing presentation slides and all collateral materials as well as a 10-minute video on DVD featuring advice from FTC leaders, law enforcement, and victims. Set includes both English and Spanish resources.
