NLM SIS News RSS Feed

If you are already familiar with RSS, the SIS feed address is:

http://sis.nlm.nih.gov/rss/sisnewsfeed.rss

What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a format for sharing and distributing Web content. It is written in the Internet coding language known as XML (eXtensible Markup Language). An RSS reader (or aggregator) notifies you when new information is added to selected web sites, such as the Division of Specialized Information Services (SIS). Readers can be set to check for news as frequently as you wish.

How do I add the NLM SIS News RSS Feed?

Although each RSS reader has a slightly different way of adding a new feed (sometimes called a channel), this is a common approach:

  1. Copy this URL (web address), http://sis.nlm.nih.gov/rss/sisnewsfeed.rss
  2. Open your news reader, select "add new feed" and paste the URL into the proper box.
  3. When the process is complete, the SIS feed will appear in your news reader.
  4. You can also click on the small orange RSS or XML button that is often displayed near a feed. You'll see a page displaying XML code. Copy the page’s URL and then follow step 2 above.

Some Web browsers have built-in RSS readers so be sure to check your browser’s instructions for adding the SIS feed.

To remove the NLM SIS News feed, delete the NLM SIS News URL from your RSS reader.

How do I get an RSS Reader?

For the best results, make sure that you are using the most recent version of your Web browser and of the reader software that you choose.

NLM does not endorse particular readers. There are many free RSS readers available for download from the Web. They offer a variety of functions and features. To find one that fits your needs, search the Web by entering the key words free RSS reader into a search engine.
