  • The Challenge is open to all U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The contest runs until October 26, 2012, followed by an evaluation period of 30 days.

  • There is a guaranteed award. The awards will be paid to the best submission(s) as solely determined by the State Department. The total payout will be $10,000, with at least one award being no smaller than $5,000 and no award being smaller than $1,000.

  • This Challenge is being held under the America COMPETES Authority where awards may only be awarded to individuals (participating singly or in a team) who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States, or private entities that are incorporated in and maintaining a primary place of business in the United States. Only U.S. entities, citizens, and permanent residents are eligible to win a prize for this Challenge. While submissions from ineligible Solvers are welcome and may be the subject of further interest, they cannot receive awards. If you have a question about eligibility, please use your Project Room to ask a question.

  • The Solvers are not required to transfer exclusive intellectual property rights to the State Department. Rather, by submitting a proposal, the Solvers grant to the State Department a royalty-free, perpetual, and non-exclusive license to use any information included in this proposal.

After the Challenge deadline, we will complete the review process and make a decision with regards to the Winning Solution(s). All Solvers that submitted a proposal will be notified on the status of their submissions; however, no detailed evaluation of individual submissions will be provided.
