Prevention

The Affordable Care Act, landmark health care reform legislation passed in 2010, created the National Prevention Council and called for the development of the National Prevention Strategy to realize the benefits of prevention for all Americans’ health.  The National Prevention Council involves 17 leaders from across the federal government and is chaired by the Surgeon General.  The National Prevention Strategy’s overarching goal is to increase the number of Americans who are healthy at every stage of life.  Learn about the nation’s first ever National Prevention Strategy, America's Plan for Better Health and Wellness.
