About the Challenge

The international Humans in Space Youth Art Competition encourages youth to “Be Inspired, Creative and Heard.” We ask young people to learn about space, think about the future, and creatively communicate their ideas. In return, we promise to make their ideas known worldwide.  By including the next generation in planning the future, the competition aims to enhance their awareness of, interest in and support for human space flight, and to allow their ideas to begin shaping the future now.

The current 2012 competition invites young people from 10 to 18 years of age to learn about space and submit visual, literary, musical and video artwork expressing their vision of:

How will humans use science and technology in the future to explore space, and what mysteries will we uncover?

Their submissions will be judged by an international panel including artists, scientists, teachers, engineers, astronauts and others.  Competition winners will have their artwork woven into displays and performances that relay their messages worldwide to people of all ages.

Artwork is due midnight US Central Standard Time, October 21, 2012.

Visit the Competition website at www.humansinspaceart.org for more information about the thematic question, the artwork guidelines, and how to enter the online competition.
