Introduction and Site Security

This web site is provided as a public service of the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA). All information that TIGTA provides at this site is considered public information. To protect the system from unauthorized use and to ensure that the system is functioning properly, the Government may monitor and audit usage of this site. Anyone using this site expressly consents to such monitoring. Unauthorized attempts to upload information and/or change information on these web sites are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under applicable federal law.

TIGTA is committed to protecting your privacy rights. Our privacy policy is as follows:
  • You do not have to give us personal information in order to visit our site.

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. § 552, gives any person the right to access records maintained by a Federal agency except those records protected from disclosure by one or more of the nine (9) FOIA exemptions or three (3) law enforcement record exclusions. The law also provides administrative and judicial remedies for those denied access to agency records.

Notice on Civil Rights Obligations

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) is subject to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, which prohibits discrimination based on disability in programs and activities conducted or financed by Federal agencies. Any member of the public who believes that he or she has experienced disability-based discrimination in a program or activity conducted by TIGTA may submit a written complaint to Sheila M. Venson, EEO Program Manager, 1401 H Street N.W., Suite 469, Washington DC, 20005.

In addition, recipients and sub-recipients of financial assistance from the Department of the Treasury and TIGTA must comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (prohibiting race, color, and national origin discrimination including language access for limited English proficient persons), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (prohibiting disability discrimination), Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (prohibiting sex discrimination in education and training programs), and the Age Discrimination Act of 1975 (prohibiting age discrimination in the provision of services). Any member of the public who believes he or she has been discriminated against by a recipient or sub-recipient of TIGTA financial assistance based on race, color, national origin, age, sex, or disability may submit a written complaint to Sheila M. Public Comment: Web Content Inventory

As required by Section 207(f) (2) of the E-Government Act of 2002 the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) has created this inventory of web content. In preparing this inventory, TIGTA has reviewed information collected as part of the redesign process for TIGTA.gov, including citizen comments via e-mail, results from business function focus groups, and current Web site statistics indicating usage of existing content. TIGTA has also queried content owners to determine any planned new content to be made public over the coming year.

    • Priority 2: mission-critical and essential for program operations, but not required by law, regulation, or Presidential directive (that is, information or services that are directly tied to an agency's mission and/or strategic plan)
