The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the Nation's historic places worthy of preservation. Authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places is part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate, and protect America's historic and archeological resources.

Our new forms have been approved by OMB. These forms were introduced in April, and have now been accepted.

Summary of Changes:
• accept lat/long coordinates
• easier formatting
• allows an alternative to the USGS map.

Weekly Highlight:
PT-658 (motor torpedo boat), Multnomah County, Oregon
Built during World War II in 1945 at Higgins Industries Boatworks in New Orleans, PT-658 is a fully-restored and operational example of a rare 625 Class Higgins Patrol Torpedo Boat (PT Boat). Although they were small and crewed by only 16 sailors, the PT boat was an indispensible part of combat actions used against the Axis powers throughout the Pacific and European theaters of war.
