Name: Joan
Age: 76
Location: Illinois
Activity: Walking, Skiing, Aerobics

In 1982 I entered a mini triathalon and then I started jogging. That was the beginning of my dedication to exercise. From then on, I entered many 5K races. Last year was my 20th year of participating in the Bix 7 mile race in Davenport, IA. I walk a lot now. In the winter, I like to cross country ski and downhill ski. Last year, I did a lot of walking to train for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk in Washington, D.C. I walked 20 miles a day and it was a big challenge. I finished without a blister! I am in my 13th year of attending dance aerobics classes six days a week. It is a total body exercise and I always feel better after I get finished. I am healthy and I exercise to stay that way. Activity is an important key to physical and mental health.
