Activity: Walking, Yoga, Weight Lifting

Since my retirement in 1986, I have exercised five times a week at the local gym. I credit exercise to my completely recovering from an attack of arthritis and reducing the effects of a heart attack. My present routine consists of three days a week of upper body strength work using weight machines (15 minutes), two miles on a treadmill (26 minutes), five miles on a stationary bike (20 to 25 minutes), and fifteen minutes on a stair climber. This workout is preceded by two warm-up laps and followed by two cooldown laps and twenty to thirty minutes of stretches and abdominal exercises. On the other two days I attend a yoga class which emphasizes developing strength, flexibility, balance and coordination.
