As a Health Insurance Specialist in the Center for Medicaid Innovations, Learning and Diffusion Group , in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, you will perform as an analyst with the responsibility for the review, analysis, development, and evaluation of CMS Medicare, Medicaid, and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)  Specifically, you will:

 

 

  • Establish and maintain ongoing networks of stakeholders in the health care industry to foster and encourage commitment around improvement goals.
  • Consult closely with evaluation staff in the Center, and throughout the agency to prepare mechanisms for ongoing and rapid evaluation of tested models.
  • Work with evaluators and the Office of the Actuary to prepare recommendations for program end, modification and or more wide scale adoption.
  • Prepare materials for the purpose of evaluating proposed models to be tested as well as to report on models in progress
  • Make recommendations to the organizations leadership and advisory committees regarding patient care models in the innovation “pipeline”.

In order to be qualified at the GS-11 level, you must possess one of the following:

A.  One year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in the federal service that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.  For example, this could include experience performing, work concerned with the administration and operation of national health insurance programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid; experience interpreting program requirements and formulating policies, methods, and procedures; monitoring, reviewing, evaluating, and assessing the integrity and quality of program operations; preparing and analyzing health care data related to the programs; or performing other related activities.

  - OR -

B.   A PhD in healthcare administration, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field which provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities to do the work of the position. - OR -

C.   A combination of the specialized experience as described in A and graduate education as described in B that, when combined, equals 100% of the total requirement.   (Please note that only graduate education in excess of the first two years may be used in this calculation.)

Conditions of Employment:

2.
