The Vermont Department of Health (VDH) is the state's public health agency. The Department provides preventive and promotional maternal and child health services; prenatal care; diagnostic, counseling, referral, and followup services for children suspected of developmental disabilities; rehabilitation services for handicapped children; an early periodic screening, diagnosis, and treatment (EPSDT) program for Medicaid-eligible persons under age 22; immunization assistance programs; cancer prevention and control services; nutrition services; dental health services; training programs for emergency medical technicians, occupational and radiological health services; environmental protection; food and lodging facility inspection; communicable disease control; toxicology services, and training programs and technical assistance for town health officers.
The Department publishes Vermont vital statistics data, reports on public health issues, and survey results.
