Description

This national, private, non-profit organization focuses on the needs of older Hispanic people and other low-income elderly as a way of bringing about social change that will impact the Hispanic community and the nation. The organization provides a variety of services -- especially for Spanish-speaking people age 55 and older -- which are supported by federal, state and private funds. ANPPM provides employment counseling; places participants in subsidized, paid employment with non-profit agencies for a period of on-the-job training; provides supportive services which further enhance the person's employability and self-sufficiency; and assists participants in finding permanent employment. ANPPM also operates a helpline that provides information and referrals on Social Security, disaster preparedness, affordable housing, free income tax preparation and food and shelter referrals.

Print Resources

Serial publications: Newsletter, quarterly; Legislative Bulletin/Boletin Legislativo, quarterly--articles, both in English and Spanish, on Social Security, Medicare, and legislative developments of concern to Hispanic elderly.
