Description

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) was formed in 1973 as the agency responsible for advising the State in matters pertaining to health and the environment. It has the authority to monitor, control, and prevent pollution, unsanitary conditions, and the spread of communicable disease. DHEC's programs focus on personal health services, environmental regulatory activities, and health regulatory activities. Personal health services include maternal and child health care, chronic and communicable disease care, home health care, and migrant health care. SERVICE LIMITATIONS: Materials will be sent free of charge to residents of South Carolina. Sample copies will be sent to out-of-State requestors, except materials for which there is a fee.

The Department publishes a large number of posters, leaflets, and pamphlets on nutrition, dental health, sexually transmitted diseases, family planning and contraception, physical fitness, parasites and vectors, and safety. Materials produced by other sources are also available. A catalog of materials available from the Educational Resources Center will be sent on request.
