Description
The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) is the only major medical society in the United States devoted entirely to education and research in medical diagnostic ultrasound. Founded in 1951, AIUM works to coordinate the efforts of researchers, clinicians, and engineers by providing a forum for interaction among these groups. The Institute is supported through yearly dues from its over 8,000 members. AIUM dues provide educational materials on the various applications of ultrasound in medicine, including uses for diagnosis, and biological research.
Print Resources
AIUM produces over 200 abstracts, monographs, guidelines, and books dealing with safety standards, quality control, and patient information pertaining to ultrasound. Serial publication: Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, monthly. In addition, AIUM produces educational videotapes and designates this CME activity for one credit hour per hour of viewing time in Category I.
