Who is eligible for FCA's services?

FCA works with families caring for someone with an adult-onset brain impairment such as Alzheimer's disease, stroke, Parkinson's, MS, ALS, Huntington's disease, TBI, AIDS dementia and brain tumor, regardless of the care recipient's age. We also assist family caregivers of older adults (60 and older), regardless of diagnosis, in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo counties. Caregivers can be low, moderate or higher income. Our no- or low-cost services are partially funded by the California Department of Mental Health and five Area Agencies on Aging through the National Family Caregiver Support Program. Families, friends and caregivers also donate to Family Caregiver Alliance to help us continue our services. Services are available to caregivers regardless of race, ancestry, gender, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, income or age.

How do I contact FCA?

You should know that it is neither selfish nor a sign of weakness to need support and information about caregiving. You can call us at (800) 445-8106 or reach us by e-mail at [email protected] A Family Consultant will speak with you about your caregiving situation, provide emotional support, and offer information about community programs, such as daycare and support groups. If you wish, you can ask to meet with an FCA Family Consultant (Family Consultants have master's degrees in social work or gerontology) for an in-depth home assessment and care planning session, including referral to our other services. FCA is a nonprofit organization; all services are free or low-cost.
