| NAIC Adopts Valuation Manual |

Commissioner The NAIC voted to enhance consumer protections today with the adoption of the Valuation Manual. The manual contains details of a principles-based approach to establishing insurance company reserves. The manual was adopted by a supermajority of the membership during the Fall National Meeting.
"As state regulators, we take insurance company solvency very seriously. It is vital that consumers get the benefit of the promises made by their insurers," said Kevin M. McCarty, NAIC President and Florida Insurance Commissioner. Full

| SBS Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary |

The NAIC is pleased to announce the 10 year anniversary of State Based Systems (SBS).
Initiated in 2002 as a back-office software system for NAIC members, SBS was originally licensed by three jurisdictions: the District of Columbia, Delaware, and New Jersey. In the last decade, the number of licensed jurisdictions has grown to 26. “State Based Systems has grown to offer a broad set of software services used by our members, the insurance industry and insurance consumers,” said NAIC President and Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin M. The NAIC presented Joseph Fritsch of the New York State Department of Financial Services with the organization's most prestigious individual honor. Fritsch received the Robert Dineen Award during the Opening Session of the NAIC Fall National Meeting.
