Washington, DC – Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez announced today that Gaston “Gus” Castellanos has assumed the position of District Director for California’s 47th Congressional District.  Castellanos will manage the Congresswoman’s office in Garden Grove and will lead operations in Orange County for the Congresswoman.

“I am excited to welcome Gus Castellanos to my team as District Director,” said Sanchez.  “Gus is a proven leader. His dedicated service to the City of Garden Grove and beyond has earned the respect and trust of all of Orange County.  For the people I have the opportunity to represent, I know his experience and extensive relationships with local businesses and community leaders will be an enormous asset.”

“It is an honor to work alongside Congresswoman Sanchez and her team,” said Castellanos.  “Over the past decade, I have seen firsthand the impact of Rep. Sanchez’ efforts to transform central Orange County to a better place to live, learn, and work.  I look forward to working with Congresswoman Sanchez to continue to improve our community.”

Having worked for the City of Garden Grove for more than twenty-five years, Castellanos has extensive knowledge of the communities in Orange County and across California.  In 1993, Castellanos oversaw the creation of Garden Grove’s public access station.  Since then he has lead all news gathering activities, production and content acquisition for the station in Central Orange County.  During this time, he piloted and launched the “This Week in Garden Grove” news program which ran on air for twenty years.

Castellanos also served for five years as Community Relations Manager for the City of Garden Grove, where he managed the Community Relations division.  Castellanos received the Community Impact Award given by Sen. Lou Correa and the OC Asian and the Pacific Islander Community Alliance.  Castellanos also received the Garden Grove Interfaith Organization's “Spirit in Action” Award.  He is a board member of the Garden Grove Boys and Girls Club.
