Welcome Home

Saturday, November 10, 2012 from noon to 2:00 pm, The Amarillo VA Health Care System will host its annual Welcome Home event.  There will be food, games, prizes, and music by Insufficient Funds.  Also, there will be FREE flu shots for Veterans ($30 for spouses).  Join us on the front lawn of the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center to say "Welcome Home" to every generation of our uniformed men and women!

Women Vets Receive Care

Women Veterans face a lot of challenges. First, there is musculoskeletal pain from heavy gear. Then, there may be PTSD from more involvement in combat situations and the high incidence of military sexual trauma. Also, more women Vets than ever before are of childbearing age; which leads to the stress of building and balancing family, work, and school while dealing with post deployment / post service issues. And, finally, simply identifying as a Veteran by self and others can be a challenge for women Veterans. Full Story
