- Steven BurtThe BAH increase is based on the cost of living for the calendar year. Why would we (users of the Post 9/11 GI Bill) be payed the current cost of living 8 months late? I believe the decision to postpone the rate change to August 1 disadvantages students using the Post 9/11 GI Bill. The cost of living in Austin, TX is rising rapidly and rent prices don't wait for the new school year in order to rise. By the time it is August 1, we will be getting paid the rates that were appropriate towards the beginning of the year, 8 months earlier. BAH, is calculated based on calendar year. Changing the effective date of its rates to August 1, 8 months after the calendar year begins, causes the users of the Post 9/11 GI Bill, mostly veterans, to not be adequately compensated.1 · 20 hours ago

- In an effort to protect Veterans, and ensure that correct information regarding GI Bill benefits is readily available, VA has trademarked the term "GI Bill" through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The initiative started as a result of... President Obama signing an executive order in April that directed the VA, the Department of Defense, the Department of Education, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to take measures that would help "stop deceptive and misleading" efforts that target GI Bill benefit money. Trademarking the term will help reduce the amount of incorrect or misleading information about GI Bill benefits.

http://www.denverpost.com/recommended/ci_21953156 - As Americans we have so much to be thankful for, none of which would be possible without the dedication and sacrifice of the men and women who have served in our Armed Forces.
Thanksgiving provides us with a special opportunity - a chance to share the spirit of gratitude through giving and compassion. While many will gather with friends and family to celebrate their blessings, others may be struggling to overcome the challenges they have encountered this past year.
Let us take the time today not only to reflect on how truly lucky we are but also to help those in need. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! - ActivityDecemberPeople Who Like ThisVisits4012
