How To Use This Web Site

This Web site is designed to provide information about the services we provide for our Network Members. Additionally, we direct health professionals and health care consumers to health information that is appropriate for them.

The RML staff serves the National Network of the Libraries of Medicine, Greater Midwest Region, including the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Our Jargon and Abbreviations

NLM: National Library of Medicine - the agency that funds our five year competitive contract.

NN/LM: National Network of Libraries of Medicine - the national level organization of which we are one of the eight regional offices.

GMR: Greater Midwest Region: the NN/LM region consisting of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. The GMR staff is housed within its host institution the University of Illinois at Chicago - Library of the Health Sciences

RML: Regional Medical Library, i.e., the administrative host for the the National Network of Libraries of Medicine program. The University of Illinois is the host institution for the NN/LM's Greater Midwest Region office.
