Do you think "mobile first"? A "mobile first" approach is where new websites and applications are designed for mobile devices first, instead of designed for the traditional desktop. It is thought that by 2015, more people will access the Web via mobile devices than desktop computers. In this second webinar in our mobile webinar series, you'll learn how to get your agency thinking "mobile first."

The Department of State and NIH's National Cancer Institute will share their "mobile first" experiences in a webinar moderated by Gwynne Kostin, director of GSA's Digital Services Innovation Center.

About the Presenters

Ken Fang, is the president of Mobomo, a company that helps clients create mobile solutions to meet their strategic needs. He is adept at developing apps on all major mobile platforms, including iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone and the mobile Web. Ken is also the founder and Chairman of Altum, Inc. Altum is the market leader of enterprise grants management and performance management solutions for government and philanthropic organizations.

Prior to Altum, Ken worked at a number of technology companies, including: IBM, American Management System, the Applied Research Labs–Penn State, Broderbund Software, and D.C. Health and Company.

Janice Clark, is the director of the Office of Website Management in the Bureau of Public Affairs, at the Department of State. Under her guidance, the Office released: a mobile version of state.gov (m.state.gov); Smart Traveler, the Department's first official smartphone app; and My State Department, a customizable interface of state.gov material. Janice serves on the Federal Web Managers Council and represents the Bureau of Public Affairs on the Department of State's Internet Steering Committee.

Janice began her career as a junior editor in the Department's Publications Office, where she produced print publications and rose through the ranks into a supervisory role.

She studied English literature at James Madison University.  

Lakshmi Grama is a senior digital content strategist at the National Institutes of Health's National Cancer Institute Office of Communication and Education. An evangelist for "intelligent content" and user–centered approaches to digital content creation and dissemination, Lakshmi is leading teams working on an "evolution" of the NCI Web and mobile sites, as well as its presence on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. Lakshmi is also actively involved in the federal Web and New Media Community of Practice and is a member of the MobileGov Taskforce.

She has master's degrees in Library and Information Science, Applied Linguistics, and English literature.
