In this third installment of our API webinar series, experts from the Federal Register, NASA, and GSA will use easy-to-understand case studies to provide insights into how their agencies began using APIs. In the process, they explain what APIs are, why they are important, and how they relate to the future of government digital services. This webinar will be moderated by Gray Brooks, Senior API Strategist at GSA's Digital Services Innovation Center.

About the Presenters  

Michael White is the Managing Editor of the Office of the Federal Register, within the National Archives and Records Administration. His team is responsible for all Federal Register publications (print, online, mobile apps, and e–books), including the award–winning Federal Register 2.0 project.  

Jed Sundwall is the CEO of Measured Voice. Over the past 4 years he has worked closely with USA.gov and GobiernoUSA.gov to develop and manage their social media strategies. He helped develop the first .gov URL shorteners, the USA.gov Blog, and the Social Media Registry. He has more than 6 years of experience helping political and government organizations use the Internet more effectively. He has also worked with presidential campaigns, the federal government, and large non–governmental institutions to figure out the best ways to engage people, change minds, and enact change.

Nick Skytland is the Program Manager of the Open Innovation Program at NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC. He leads the team responsible for NASA's Open Government Plan and Digital Government Strategy. He has experience planning galactic–sized hackathons, envisioning future space exploration missions, designing next generation space suits, training space–bound astronauts, developing open–source technology, and crafting new partnerships between government and industry. His current research focus is to better understand how governments can apply the art and science of mass collaboration to solve humanity's toughest challenges.
