To increase the U.S. Department of Labor's utilization of all types of small businesses, the Department's Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) sponsors Small Business Vendor Outreach Sessions (VOS). These sessions offer small businesses the opportunity to market their capabilities directly to OSDBU and agency program officials and learn about potential Department procurement opportunities. Conversely, Department procurement officials can learn more about the diverse small business resources available to meet their procurement needs.
Department of Labor agencies buy a wide variety of goods and services valued at approximately $1.9 billion each year. Each DOL agency has a responsibility for procuring its own goods and services in support of the agency's mission.

Expert Forum on the Use of Performance-based Regulatory Models in the U.S. Oil and Gas Industry, Offshore and Onshore,

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), along with the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, United States Coast Guard, Environmental Protection Agency, and Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration invite public participation in this meeting on the use and implementation of performance-based regulatory models for enhanced safety and environmental performance in the United States oil and gas industry.
Speakers will address the current regulatory landscape and discuss the challenges and benefits of non-prescriptive, outcome-based approaches to reduce the frequency and severity of harmful events.
Public attendees will have the opportunity to make comments at the meeting and all members of the public may submit comments in writing. Those interested in attending must register online by September 5. The meeting will also be Webcast live for online viewing. |

The Philadelphia District Office will host a seminar for first-time reviewed contractors and subcontractors on the development of Affirmative Action Plans as required by Executive Order 11246, as amended, Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974, as amended. This seminar will provide guidance on how to develop the narrative portions of the Affirmative Action Plan and guidance on the items requested from the Itemized Listing. In addition, an overview of the compliance review process will be provided.

The OLMS Milwaukee District Office will conduct a workshop for all interested union trustees, audit committee members, staff, and other interested union officials. The workshop will familiarize trustees with the OLMS publication entitled Conducting Audits in Small Unions: A Guide for Trustees, which features a 10-step audit designed to help trustees carry out their responsibilities. Additionally, participants will be provided an opportunity, through a series of exercises involving financial records from a fictitious union, to see how the skills and techniques discussed in the Guide should be applied in “real-world” situations. |
