The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a final rule making the one year delay of the compliance date of the ICD-10 code sets official. Effective October 1, 2014 claims submitted with an ICD-9-CM code to classify a disease or diagnosis will be rejected and require a new claim to be resubmitted using the corresponding ICD-10-CM code.
