The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire

OSHA commemorates 100 years since 146 workers were killed on March 25, 1911, in a devastating fire that prompted widespread workplace safety reforms.

Events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the fire on March 25 are planned throughout the country in the coming months. These events provide opportunities to learn about the history of workplace safety and to join OSHA in honoring the memory of the fire's victims and of every worker whose life is cut short by preventable workplace hazards.

40th Anniversary Public Forum with Dr. Michaels

To mark OSHA's 40th anniversary, the Center for American Progress hosted a public forum with David Michaels, assistant secretary of labor for OSHA. He joined workers, employers and union leaders to discuss the safety agency's past and future. The forum was held April 21, 2011.
