Largo man sentenced to prison for receipt of child pornography

TAMPA, Fla. - A Largo man, 57, was sentenced to six years in federal prison following a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) investigation.

Randall Derringer was sentenced earlier Friday by U. S. District Judge Steven D. Merryday to six years in federal prison. Derringer pleaded guilty on Jan. 22, 2009, to one count of receipt of child pornography.

According to court documents, ICE special agents discovered that Derringer had subscribed to computer Web sites which featured images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct. During the execution of a search warrant at Derringer's home on Jan. 14, 2008, ICE agents discovered that he possessed numerous images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct on his computer.

U. S. Attorney A. Brian Albritton commended the investigative efforts of the ICE Office of Investigations in Tampa and the U. S. Postal Inspection Service.
