On April 28th, the HIT Standards Committee held a meeting in Washington, DC. To begin, Dr. Doug Fridsma spoke on behalf of Aneesh Chopra, Implementation Workgroup chair and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Chief Technology Officer, giving an update from the Implementation Workgroup Report on their desire to make toolkits, accelerators, and best practices available via the Web. Dr. David Blumenthal, the National Coordinator for Health IT, offered comments on health reform legislation asking members to start developing standards for exchanging eligibility information, “Think of this in the same way that we are facilitating better healthcare through standards and interoperability, we have the opportunity to facilitate better coverage through standards and interoperability” (more…)
