- Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti has been extended for an additional 18 months. Secretary Napolitano is also extending the suspension of certain requirements for F-1 nonimmigrant Haitian students. For more information see the USCIS TPS page.
- U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia, Donald E. Booth, along with the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), inaugurate a new airstrip for the Dolo Ado refugee camps in Ethiopia. This U.S. funded airstrip will allow aid workers to provide assistance to the camp year round, without interruption from flooding or other natural disasters.
