Administrator Martha Johnson, addressing the annual Networks Services Conference, urged federal agencies to use GSA's Networx communications contract to close a growing technology gap and improve services to the public.

GSA holds the conference each year to improve the operational excellence, efficiency and effectiveness of government. The Networx telecommunications contract does that, she said, by providing new technologies at lower cost.

Johnson told customers and industry partners that GSA has seen progress, with 53 percent of agencies moving to Networx, but that more need to sign on.

GSA stands ready to help with the transition. The agency is providing free technical, contracting and planning assistance to its client agencies.

Johnson said GSA will use its expertise and relationships across all of government to drive improvements in sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence.
