INFORMATION ON BOND QUESTION #4: VETERANS HOME BONDS
Approval of this question will allow the State of Rhode Island to issue general obligation bonds, refunding bonds, and temporary notes in an amount not to exceed ninety-four million dollars ($94,000,000) for the construction of a new Veterans’ Home and renovations to existing facilities. SENIOR JOURNAL CABLE TELEVISION PROGRAM RECEIVES NATIONAL AWARD
The Division of Elderly Affairs public access cable television program, Senior Journal, has been selected for the Volunteers Matter: National Association for State Units on Aging and Disabilities (NASUAD) Excellence in Volunteer Services Award. The award was recently presented at the 2012 NASUAD Home and Community Based Services conference in Washington, D.C.. The Senior Journal volunteers produce programming that explores the issues of growing older and the challenges faced by adults with disabilities in Rhode Island. The Senior Journal is produced with the support of Rhode Island PBS and Rhode Island Public, Education, and Government Access Television.
SNAP QUALITY CONTROL UNIT RECEIVES NATIONAL AWARD
The Quality Control Unit of the RI Department of Human Services was recognized by the federal Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) of the Department of Agriculture for its high completion rate of quality control reviews. Quality Control reviews SNAP applications and how they were processed to ensure that everything was done as prescribed by federal regulation. The 2011 US total completion rate was 92.84%. RI DHS’ completion rate was 98.7%.

RIte Resources
RIte Resources is a new web site that is designed for hospital discharge planners, patients, and their families. The goal of RIte Resources is to provide better information on the availability of servcies provided by nursing homes, assisted living facilities, home care agencies, and adult day care agencies. These entities will enter some basic information about their organization that allows the discharge planners, patients, and their families the ability to search for needed resources.
Hospital discharge planners, patients, and their families will be able to search RIte Resources to identify available services, based on location, type of service, and special needs. For more information, please check RIte Resources.
