The Final Five Quarters

Here we are in 2008, the last year of the 50 State Quarters® Program!  We hope you’ve enjoyed the unveiling of each state’s coin design over the last 9 years.

In case you haven’t seen the designs planned for the 2008 states (Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska, and Hawaii), each one has its own page as usual in "The Coins Are Coming," complete with state information and the story and picture of the design.

The Second Set of Dollars

Though the 50 State Quarters® Program is winding down, the Presidential $1 Coin Program is just getting started!  In this second year of the program, four more coin designs will begin circulating.

You can see the designs planned for the 2008 coins and a short bio of each president (Monroe, JQ Adams, Jackson, and Van Buren) on their pages in "The Coins Are Coming."  Here are some questions those pages can answer for you:

New Quarters Join The Games

Every year, the H.I.P. Pocket Change games that feature the quarters from the 50 State Quarters® Program get updated with images and stories of the year’s new designs, and this year is no exception.  Cents of Color is the first to offer you the new 2008 designs to color online.

PuzzleMint is soon to follow with its virtual jigsaw versions of these new quarters.  Quarter Explorer, of course, will have the new coins, new state trivia questions, and new postcards for you to enjoy.

So stop by the Games page!  If your favorite game hasn’t been updated yet, keep visiting until it is!

Quarter of the Quarter:  Oklahoma

Oklahoma’s quarter reflects this state’s natural beauty with an image full of wildlife.  The interesting stories behind this design and its creation are covered in two places.

The Oklahoma quarter page tells about the state bird and wildflower, which are both featured on this coin.  January’s Coin of the Month, presented by Nero, focuses on the way the coin was chosen and how the timing lined up with a special year for Oklahoma.
