Authority
The Patient Monitoring Guidelines for HIV Care and Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) are provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international partners. The Patient Monitoring Guidelines included in the Metathesaurus are extracted from LOINC® and may not be a complete representation of the original source.

Purpose
The Patient Monitoring Guidelines are provided to aid in the development of an effective national HIV care and ART patient monitoring system.

Audience
The Patient Monitoring Guidelines are used by those involved at various levels of the development or revision of patient monitoring tools such as patient and facility records, registers and reports, or electronic systems. They include:

  • national AIDS program managers,
  • health agencies,
  • monitoring and evaluation officers, and
  • other providers of HIV care and ART.

Metathesaurus Update Frequency
The Patient Monitoring Guidelines are updated in each Metathesaurus release as part of LOINC.
