Work In Progress at the Goddard Visitor Center

In the Goddard Visitor Center Exhibit Gallery, major work is now underway and is expected to continue through August as part of an enhancement project that includes the addition of new exhibits and displays, modification to several existing exhibits, and a new floor plan of the exhibit gallery.

Naturally, such noteworthy changes will entail some disruption to operations and programs in the Visitor Center’s exhibit gallery. A number of current exhibits will be moved and inoperable for the next several weeks. Some areas within the exhibits gallery will be roped off on certain days. There may be noise and other construction-related distractions. We ask for everyone’s patience as this process moves forward now and through the month of August.

One of the new exhibits will be a full-size model of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, set in front of a wall-size color graphic backdrop. In addition, the first component of a new James Webb Space Telescope exhibit will be installed. It will feature a large, full-color graphic display of astronomical objects as viewed in the infrared. Exhibits featuring other missions and topics will also be installed and technology upgrades made to several existing Hubble Space Telescope exhibits. The additions kick off the most significant transformation to Goddard’s Visitor Center in a number of years. Make sure to stop in and see the completed improvements in September! If you have any questions, please contact Bill Buckingham.
