The Federal Trade Commission today announced the following actions:

 

Application for modification of Commission order:

• The FTC has received an application for modification of a Commission order from the following: The Boeing Company. In the application, Boeing has requested that the order be modified to terminate all provisions relating to Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs). This request has been made because: 1) Boeing allegedly no longer participates in either UAV program that was the reason for the original provisions of the order; and 2) Boeing contends the provisions are thwarting the ability of the United States to have the company use UAV data and expertise on other Department of Defense programs. Boeing has accordingly requested modifications to paragraphs I-VIII of the original order.
  
  

  The Commission is seeking public comment on the application for 30 days, until June 5, 2000. Publication of Federal Register notices:

• The FTC has approved the publication of a Federal Register related to the following: The High Tech Warranty Project. In the notice, which will be published shortly, the Commission is announcing its upcoming public forum to examine warranty protection for software and other computer information products and services that are marketed to consumers. In addition, the Commission is seeking academic papers and public comment to inform this examination. Information about how to submit papers and comments is included in the Federal Register notice. The forum will be help in the fall of 2000. The Commission must receive all papers and comment no later than September 11, 2000.

Consent agreements given final approval:

• Following a public comment period, the Commission has made final a consent agreement with the following: Motor Up Corporation, Inc. The Commission vote to finalize the consent order was 5-0. • Following a public comment period, the Commission has made final a consent agreement with the following: Dura Lube Corporation. The Commission vote to finalize the consent order was 5-0.
