Submission Text
I would urge the requirement of using a valid, listed phone number unique to the telemarketer in Caller ID for telemarketing calls. I was among the first to sign onto the national Do Not Call registry, having previously signed onto the Pennsylvania state registry. This drastically reduced telemarketing calls almost to zero, but in the past few years the number has increased. I always report these calls, which are illegal because my number is on DNC, because it is a cell phone, and because these are usually robocalls. But it is often difficult to make a useful report, since these shady telemarketers either refuse to identify themselves or give a false name and no contact information. Numbers are either unlisted, shared, bogus or spoofed. Requiring listed numbers that can be easily looked up would help, as would stiff penalties for violations.
