Submission Text
I have been out of work for some time and the Bill Collectors have been calling and calling to no end. Typically, my Caller Id device displays "TOLL FREE CALL". I have to drag out of the caller the individual or company they represent. I worked in Telecommunications for over 20 years and know there are no tolls charged for an inbound call to my number with the exception of a collect call. Upon explaining this fact to the callers they have various excuses but the bottom line is they are trying to mask who is really calling me. The same deception occurs when I get an Id display of "ILLINOIS CALL", "TEXAS CALL", etc. In those cases it may be factually correct that the call in originating from a particular state but it gives me no indication of WHO is calling me unless the business name of the company happens to be "illinois call" or "texas call". Sincerely, Randall J Hayes
