UMass Amherst Libraries and the Center for Hierarchical Manufacturing are sponsoring a professional development day on May 24th: Nanotechnology in the Health and Applied Sciences: Implications for Librarians and Researchers at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Learn the basic scientific concepts underpinning nanotechnology as well as its applications in the health and applied sciences. The goal of this event is to provide Science librarians with a basic understanding of the tools, language, trends, and resources for supporting nanotechnology research. Active researchers and librarians will present the following topics: Visualizing the Invisible; Nanoparticles for Cancer Therapy, Carbon Nanotubes and their Applications; Environmental, Health and Safety Concerns; Intellectual Property;and Data Curation 101. There will be a tour of two labs at UMASS Amherst. Lunch will be provided. This event is free and open to all New England Region science librarians, but you must register to attend.
