The CDC Director
Thomas R. Frieden, MD, MPH, took the helm as director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry on June 8, 2009.
The CDC Leaders
CDC′s three primary leadership groups are: Management Council (MC), Center Leadership Council (CLC), and the Division Director′s Council and Steering Committee (DDC and DDSC). Each group contributes to CDC′s system of networked governance of the agency′s overall direction.
Ileana Arias, PhD
Principal Deputy Director of CDC/ATSDRIleana Arias, PhD, serves as Principal Deputy Director for CDC and ATSDR. In this role, she serves as the principal advisor to the director on all scientific and programmatic activities of CDC/ATSDR.

Director, National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID)Beth P. Bell, MD, MPH, is the Director of the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID). Most recently, Dr. Bell has served as the Associate Director for Epidemiologic Science, National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD). In 2008–2009, she served as Acting Deputy Director and then as Acting Director for NCIRD.

Kevin M. De Cock, MD, FRCP (UK), DTM&H
Director, Center for Global HealthKevin M. De Cock is a US citizen who was born in Belgium. He received his medical degree from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom, in 1974. He specialized in internal medicine and obtained extensive experience in infectious diseases, tropical medicine, and liver disease. He holds medical licenses from both the United Kingdom and the State of California, and is registered in the United Kingdom as a specialist in infectious and tropical diseases.

Linda C. Degutis, DrPH, MSN
Director, National Center for Injury Prevention and ControlLinda C. Degutis, DrPH, MSN, joined CDC in 2010 as Director of the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control. Dr. Degutis most recently was Research Director for the Department of Emergency Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, and Director of the Yale Center for Public Health Preparedness (YCPHP) at the Yale School of Public Health. In addition, she directs the Connecticut Partnership for Public Health Workforce Development.
