Law Enforcement Coordination

The Law Enforcement Coordination (LEC) program was implemented in 1986 in each USAO with a goal of fostering cooperative and coordinated local, state and federal law enforcement efforts in each federal district. In nearly 25 years, the methods of achieving that goal have not changed. They consist of developing training on emerging crime issues, conducting strategic planning and establishing task forces/working groups to address current crime trends. During the past several years, the LEC program in the SDTX has broadened its coordination efforts beyond just law enforcement to include many non-traditional partners, as well as focusing the direction of all partners toward national and district-wide priorities. Three of the top district priorities supported by the LEC program are linked below and are but a sample of all the LEC activities in the Southern District of Texas.
