National Archives to offer Genealogy Workshop in March

Kansas City, (MO)…The National Archives at Kansas City will be offering the following free Genealogical Workshop during March.

Friday, March 11, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. – Introduction to Online Public Access (OPA)
Presented by archives specialist Jessica Edgar, this workshop will introduce the National Archives new centralized streamlined search engine, Online Public Access (OPA). OPA incorporates record information from the Archival Research Catalog (ARC), Access to Archival Databases (AAD), and the Electronic Records Archive (ERA) into one place. Additional information about the presenter

Jessica Edgar graduated from William Jewell College with degrees in Secondary Education and History. She started with the National Archives at Kansas City in January 2007. As an Archives Specialist she answers reference requests, assists in marketing and public programming, and works with data management within the Archives record tracking systems.

The National Archives at Kansas City is one of 13 facilities nationwide where the public has access to Federal archival records. It is home to more than 50,000 cubic feet of historical records dating from the 1820s to the 1990s created or received by nearly 100 Federal agencies. Serving the Central Plains Region, the archives holds records from the states of Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The facility is located at 400 West Pershing Road, Kansas City, MO 64108.
