Make a "Connection"

Find out more about animals found on the reverse of a coin.  Don't miss the September 2005 Coin of the Month, the Kansas quarter.  This coin features a buffalo and a sunflower, two of the state's most beloved symbols.  Both the buffalo and the sunflower were found throughout Kansas in the mid-1800s when Kansas became a state.  Be sure to take a look at the K-6 lesson plans created specifically to celebrate the Kansas quarter: Flower Power (K-1), Kansas Clues (2-3), and Can You See the Light? (4-6).
