Medicaid Statistical Information System (MSIS) Drug Utilization Datamart
WELCOME TO THE MSIS DRUG UTILIZATION DATAMART!
This page provides background needed to take advantage of the capabilities of the MSIS Drug Utilization Datamart. This mart allows the user to develop high-level statistical tables covering Medicaid drug utilization for groups of drugs. This mart does not present data for each National Drug Code (NDC) but summarizes drug payments and claim counts using the MEDISPAN drug groupings developed by Wolters Kluwer Health, Inc.
Note that the family of MSIS DATAMARTS is licensed for use by registered users ONLY. If you are not a registered user but would like access to the State Summary and Drug Utilization Datamarts, please contact the MSIS email box at msis@cms.hhs.gov.

Before Using: Read the MSIS Drug Utilization Data User Guide. This guide is a concise explanation of how to navigate the mart along with suggestions to simplify use. You may refer questions to the CMS help line at msis@cms.hhs.gov or call Bill Holland at 410-786-6443. In addition to the user guide, Cognos Powerplay web has an online help feature accessible through the “?” button on the bottom toolbar.
