CDC Statements on Diabetes Issues

New information on TRIAD diabetes care and treatment study available from CDC

A recently updated fact sheet on TRIAD, the Translating Research into Action for Diabetes study, is available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and our partners. TRIAD is a national, multicenter study examining diabetes care and treatment in managed care settings. The fact sheet summarizes 10 years of research from TRIAD, which assembled one of the largest cohorts of persons with diabetes ever used in a single study.

The fact sheet provides information on the following topics:

  • How health system factors are associated with processes of care.
  • How patient factors determine clinical outcomes, for better or worse.
  • The effectiveness of diabetes disease management strategies.

An accompanying video provides commentary on the study’s findings and implications for the care and management of diabetes.

The TRIAD project is a collaborative effort of CDC, the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), translational research centers, and their health plan partners. The study is funded by CDC through its Division of Diabetes Translation and by NIDDK.
