This week we released our Open Government Forum Charter, and based on feedback we received from OpenTheGovernment, we are revising our Open Government Plan. We’ll make Version 1.2 of the plan available in PDF and HTML when we launch our revamped Web site this summer.

Now is a perfect time to share with us ways you’d like to improve the plan and site!

Thank you in advance.

I agree. I’ve found that most concepts of spirituality and self-growth are pretty simple. singlesnetreview.net/

Why is it taking well over 10 months for people to receive their full retirement payments? Why are they receiving one statement after another from each part of the retirement office with excuses one after the other? This is totally ridiculous and unfair. What is your problem? One of my co-workers has received at least twenty emails with all kinds of excuses. You would not get away with this in the Public Area. I think maybe it is time for all of these retirees to get together and file a class action lawsuit against OPM>

Dear OpenOPM Personnel, I was very happy to find the OpenOPM Calendar (it was hard to find!), and very happy to see that it provides a .ICAL file which I used to import all the Federal Holidays for the coming years into my Microsoft Outlook calendar. The URL is: http://www.opm.gov/Open/Apps/Holidays/Index.aspx BUT THERE'S A PROBLEM with the holidays. Once I imported them, I found out that the Outlook Calendar item says that the Federal Holiday goes from 7 pm THE DAY BEFORE the real holiday to 7 pm the day of the holiday. Of course that's incorrect. The holiday should have been specified as an All Day Event, rather than one with specific times. This kind of calendar SNAFU happens when people in one time zone use calendar items created in another time zone. Although the person may have specified it correctly as going from midnight to midnight, that was converted to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and recorded as happening from midnight to midnight IN THAT TIME ZONE. It makes a lot of sense for Outlook to do this, since that's what a business person would need. If a meeting is at Noon Pacific time, people on the East Coast need their appointment to say 3:00 pm, NOT Noon. That way they'll all call in to a teleconference (for example) simultaneously, regardless of where on Earth they are. THE BOTTOM LINE IS: THE .ICAL file that's currently available on the OpenOPM Federal Holiday Calendar page is INCORRECT and NEEDS TO BE REPLACED with one in which the holidays are specified correctly. Testing needs to be performed to ensure that the holidays, when imported into a calendar, don't span multiple days, but simply say that the single whole day is the Federal Holiday. Testing can be performed easily by the person who makes the file, simply by changing the Time Zone setting on the computer's clock. This way the tester can simulate being in other time zones, and people in other time zones don't need to be called in to test the .ICAL calendar file. Since multiple programs are able to read and import .ICAL files, those programs should ALSO be used to test the file, to make sure the file works correctly when imported into them. Thanks for reading all this. Please feel welcome to contact me with any questions you may have. THANKS for all you do in making OpenOPM. I hope it gets continual funding so that it can grow and flourish as a valuable resource to us federal employees. All the best, Dana For more information on UTC, here is its Wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinated_Universal_Time

Wow, I put a lot of carriage returns in my message above, to format it correctly and make it easy to read. Too bad they were stripped out! It would have been a lot more readable WITH them. Take care!

Where do you ask a simple question on the OPM. It looks like only gear heads use the site.I would simply like to know what is meant by a claim # when trying to log on to my account. If it's not my CSA # WHAT is it?

I was recently offered a job that requires an age waiver to proceed with the hiring process. How long does the age waiver take once submitted to OPM?

The problem identified 9/29/11 by Dana Miles still exists: The file to import holidays into Outlook calendars is hard-wired to a start and end time, instead of using the "all day" option, which would make it useful in all time zones. What is the purpose of this site if suggested improvements aren't implemented?
