Prevention and Public Health Fund (PPHF) Strategy and Implementation Office

The Affordable Care Act of 2010 (Affordable Care Act or ACA) is a historic opportunity to advance health reform and public health. The Affordable Care Act's unprecedented investment in preventive care and public health represents an important ideological shift – from a reactive model focused on treatment to a proactive prevention model with the goal of eliminating health disparities and ensuring quality of life for all Americans.

The PPHF Strategy and Implementation Office provides the necessary programmatic and financial oversight and coordination for Affordable Care Act activities within the CDC.

The responsibilities of the office include:

  • · Participating in framing CDC PPHF program priorities and strategy recommendations.

  • · Collaborating with CDC's Financial Management Office (FMO) and Procurement and Grants Office (PGO) on program support functions.

  • · Working with program, FMO, and PGO to monitor funds, establish internal controls, and report on budget management and program performance.

  • · Promoting awareness of activities and outcomes within CDC and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

  • · Coordinating with HHS to fulfill PPHF requirements and achieve compliance with mandates.
