Protocol for Quarterly Data Submission

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Lead Poisoning Prevention Branch (LPPB) is now moving towards quarterly submissions of childhood lead data. The purpose of quarterly submissions is to encourage CLPPPs to clean their data on a more continuous basis, and in a more timely fashion. Currently, there are no new additions that need to be made to your data. For STELLAR users, this is as simple as choosing the appropriate quarter when creating an extract. For non-STELLAR users, this may be more complicated. To encourage our grantees to move forward, CDC will not require a quarterly report to be sent if you are successful in sending a quarterly data submission. Successfully sending a quarterly data submission requires adhering to the following protocol:

  1. The program must have gone through the typical cleaning procedures defined by the CLPPPs in a timely fashion
  2. The program must correctly format the data with the appropriate quarter in which they are submitting (1, 2, 3, or 4)
  3. Previous incomplete or inaccurate data is also included in the new quarterly submission (changes in your data)
  4. Data from the previous quarter that did not make it into the state system in time for the previous quarterly report, will be included in the new quarterly report
  5. The quarterly submission is on time (60 days after the end of the quarter, the quarterly submission is due)
  6. The program must be able to submit quarterly data successfully in two consecutive quarters along with a quarterly report.  Afterwards, the CLPPP may continue to submit quarterly data and do away with the quarterly report to CDC.

All questions regarding this new process can be directed to Qaiyim Harris (QHarris@cdc.gov)
