Tuberculosis Epidemiologic Studies Consortium (TBESC)

Translating Research into Practice (TRIP)

TRIP Mission and Objectives

The Translating Research into Practice (TRiP) Workgroup was formed in 2006 by TBESC to emphasize the application and dissemination of TBESC research findings to field and public health practice.  The TRiP Workgroup consists of representatives from TBESC sites, the Regional Training and Medical Consultation Centers (RTMCCs), National TB Controllers Association (NTCA), and other public health partners.

TRiP’s mission is to successfully transition the findings from promising TBESC studies into public health practices for U.S. TB control programs. TRiP members work alongside study PIs, CDC staff, TB controllers, and others such as the NTCA, the National TB Nurse Coalition (NTNC), the Advisory Council for the Elimination of Tuberculosis (ACET), and the RTMCCs to identify best strategies to employ and disseminate findings that may be useful in state and local TB control programs.

The workgroup’s specific objectives are to:

  • Identify TBESC research findings and link them to TB program activities.
  • Propose sustainable strategies of applying TBESC research findings to improve the quality of patient care and accelerate TB elimination.
  • Ensure practical, public health-related applications of forthcoming research, starting from the concept- and protocol-development stage.
