NIOSH Approved X-ray Facility Database

Facilities must be approved by NIOSH before they are used to take chest x-rays for the Coal Workers’ Health Surveillance Program (CWHSP).  Facilities seeking approval to complete chest x-rays under the CWHSP must comply with the following regulations from 42 CFR, Part 37 (Specifications for Medical Examinations of Underground Coal Miners):

  • 37.41 Chest roentgenogram specifications,
  • 37.42 Approval of roentgenographic facilities, and
  • 37.43 Protection against radiation emitted by roentgenographic equipment.

Facilities interested in becoming NIOSH-approved should contact the CWHSP for an approval on packet which details the requirements.  Use the form below to view a listing of all currently approved NIOSH x-ray facilities.
